Planning for the 2025 Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout is underway!
This year's event will span two days, September 19-20, 2025, and is sure to be an even bigger success than last year. Details are being announced regularly so please check back soon and follow us on Facebook.

The first Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout was held on September 21, 2024.
Packet Pickup, Onsite Registration, and Supporting Events are held at the Berkley Barn on Ocracoke Island. This tournament, organized by residents and friends of Ocracoke, will be an annual event and fundraiser. For 2024, the funds were donated to the Ocracoke Working Watermen's Association to support their education and outreach efforts, and for the ongoing preservation and renovation of the Ocracoke Seafood Company. Thank you to our Sponsors, Volunteers, and Friends, for supporting us and our working watermen, and the last remaining fish house on the island!

Level 1

General (included with your tournament  boat entry) 

Get started in the Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout Tournament with Level 1! Prizes in this category awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for the longest fish. Lady and Youth Angler 1st place only for longest fish.

Level 2

Most Releases Calcutta  (+$100)

Step up the competition by entering Level 2! First, enter Level 1. Qualify for prizes by boating and measuring all 27"+ Red Drum releases with the provided Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout Ruler and 2nd Annual Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout Token visible in photos. All species should be released unharmed.

Level 3

Longest Drum Calcutta  (+$200)

Take on the challenge of Level 3! Entry requires participation in Levels 1 & 2. The qualifying photo of the longest Red Drum being properly measured with the 2nd Annual Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout Official Ruler and Token visible wins.

Level 4

First Fifty Two! (+$300)

Aim for the ultimate prize in Level Four! Enter Levels 1, 2, & 3 first. Submit the first qualifying photo of a Red Drum release measuring 52 inches or longer with the Official Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout Token and Ruler visible to win. If Level 4 prize is not awarded, the prize money will be rolled over into the next tournament for this category, increasing the potential payout!

Note: In order to qualify, the Red Drum must be properly measured (see rule #11) with the 2nd Annual Ocracoke Red Drum Shootout Official Ruler and Token visible.

Levels 2 and 3 pays 1st (50%), 2nd (25%) and 3rd (15%) place.  Tournament will keep 15% of entry fees. Level 4 is winner take all. Tournament will keep 15% of entry fees. See Tournament Rules and Regulations for details.
